Another offering to the Station Series I've been posting from time to time.......Frankford, Ontario; on the old Central Ontario Railway; which was first laid down around 1882. Eventually taken over by GTR and then CNR, the track, running north from Trenton, lasted over 100 years, until it was lifted in 1985. The station, looking sharp as a home for the Lions Club in this village of a couple of thousand souls; I thought would last many more years...but apparently it is no longer on this location. It was purchased and moved to Stockdale, a hamlet a few miles west of here. The track being gone, the area around the station now serves the community as 'Station Park' despite the only thing being left to view is the foundation........

  1. Ahhhhh…..Frankford station. One of the first stations I learned of, and helped spur my photographic efforts in capturing existing stations in Ontario, back from late 90′s, to 2003. Time may not allow a lot of trips now to specifically find and photograph stations, but this was one of the early ones I learned of thanks to my grandparents. I’ve shot this station twice, as it was bought by a local resident, and station was subsequently moved to a location on ‘Stockdale Road’ (I think it’s called that?)….just north of Trenton. Last time I was there around 2005, it required a bit if work. But my first time in 1999 it looked to be in decent shape, painted in the two tone green that mimicked the railways paint schemes early on. I’ll have to see if I can find my old photos from that first trip. :)

  2. Nice memories, Todd. I had not seen Frankford station since maybe 1997, and was surprised it would be moved. Its a shame the town could not use it for washrooms or snack bar in a town park, but at least it is saved. Glad this photo triggered some hopefully very pleasant memories. Not easy to find some these days.
