Four new SD60M's from EMD wait at the CP shop in London and will soon depart westward to cross the border. Included are UP 6186-6188-6184-6183. Sadly this scene will never be repeated today since EMD ended over 60 years of history in London.

Christmas Day is the only quiet day of the year on the CP, a good day to get a few photos of trains tied up for the holiday. This SD40-2 is only 4 years old but will be repainted in 2006 to the beaver scheme and still bear the same number. Of course the van is now a piece of history itself.

Brake test completed 4401 pulls down to Egerton St. ready to head westward. Some points of interest no longer seen or rarely seen include: "barrel" headlight, white extra flags, ratchet handbrake, oil lanterns on switch stands, stock cars on headend, wood cabooses, footboards on engine, and 2nd unit RS3 3022. 4401's original number was 1725 until 1956, rebuilt to 7041 in 1992 and scrapped in 2013.

1965 steam excursion in London and 6218 backs in the shop track for coal & water. They will later return to the depot downtown for their train and depart eastward on the Dundas Sub. Very little of this scene remains today, only the white building on the right and the mainline itself (note westbound on main in background). The entire roundhouse facility is gone and now is a sports recreation center.

[Editors note: long gone, view from C&O Backshops at St. Thomas - all that is left of this is a pit] After viewing Mr. Mooney's photo I did a little searching & found this auxiliary hook at the same location. It appears to be steam powered. I never saw it in operation. Was always on standby. If my memory serves me correctly it went to London for scrap. Any updates or corrections?

How many crews stop to photograph their own train? On a spur track like this you can pretty well stop any where you want.It also helps when all crew members are railfans.
