Here, it is leaving the easternmost tracks of Walker Yard. The leftmost track is the Walker Yard Bypass track. I think I see two such tracks on recent Google views.'  height='150' width='200' /></a><br>

Somehow, I knew this train was on its way so I set up in the then empty strip between N Calgary Trail (I think that is what it was called back then, not Gateway Blvd) and the CPR. Note that the Sun is now out.
This is one of only 2 times that I would see a SOO locomotive. The other was on the BN along Sprague Lake in Washington.'  height='150' width='200' /></a><br>

This train will work Mirror, and then head out the Brazeau sub, when it will service the industries out that way and switch Red Deer.

The prevailing west winds probably had a lot to do with that. Those winds are probably the biggest downside of living in the Calgary area.
We have two of CP&#039;s &quot;latest&quot; EMD&#039;s  (plus an earlier version of the SD-40) pulling the train. Those SD-40-2F&#039;s are still 8 years old, and I believe are the last new EMD&#039;s that CP would purchase, until the SD-43/90 debacle.'  height='150' width='200' /></a><br>

Apparently, that building was the store.
I don&#039;t know if this shot is repeatable, even though this is now public land. The Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park pamphlet says that one must stay on the paths. If this is strongly enforced, and the new fencing put in is too restricting, then I would have to say that they ruined it for us.'  height='150' width='200' /></a><br>

Apparently there was a small town here (furthest right, by the tracks), that operated the sandstone quarry and then a brick making operation. All of that closed down before WW1, and the place was abandoned. This side of the river is now Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. In 1996, it was still an active ranch, with some crops.'  height='150' width='200' /></a><br>
