CP 9017 takes the lead in day 1 of a multiple day CWR train on the Hamilton sub back in March of this year. Everything on the railway is a gamble, as I was operating on a hunch that the train was going to run on this day, but I took it as it would of been my first time seeing a Canadian Pacific barn leader

Lord and behold, I had woken up to a text that one of my buddies was on the train, and the game was on. After getting held up by 3 trains before heading down the Hamilton sub (no surprise there), it slowly leans along Waterdown North after dropping rail a few hundred meters down the line where I was standing

But, just a few months after, I discovered that there is a station (now used as an office) behind where the lead units are in the frame. I totally did not notice this as the trees were blocking off most of the structure from me as I waited for the train to finish dumping rail

CN L514 departs the small town of Blenheim Ontario, with CN 4116 taking the lead. This is only just a small snapshot of what used to be here compared to this spot back in the pre 1990s. Crazy enough that this line used to be busy enough with C&O Traffic to justify CTC, in which evidence of signal masts still scattered around the old Blenheim junction just a mile behind me. Purely fascinating, if only I had a time machine.... But you take what you have, and over the years I have learned to not take everything for granted, even if most people cant see it yet. This is one of the very few railway lines that I actually feel could get abandoned in my lifetime.

So, this summer, I took the time in, with many attempts over the years, to see 514 leading northbound with cars in some nice afternoon sunlight. Not that hard right? :) Well, this particular job is very unpredictable, in which the crew can be called at any time, usually depending on when 439 arrives into Windsor, but can still vary throughout the day. But fine, lets say they get ordered in the afternoon, then add on the uncertainty of them bringing cars OUT of Blenheim, or even running down here at all. Not to even mention the amount of times I have had a cloud wall come out of nowhere right as they were departing the town or the sun setting too soon. Anyways, enough complaining, as that's not what I am here to do. The main point of the speech is to always document document document! As you never know this could be the last time you experience it!
With alarms set in the early morning hours to see if H17 will be daylight in Toronto, I get a call from a friend saying that they are lined down the Mactier sub, about an hour before sunrise. Unfortunately, the train was already approaching Elder as I got on the subway to attempt a searchlight shot on the Belleville.

So, I went to the closest spot to not risk missing the train in the morning light, which was at Bartlett.

This was my first time back at Bartlett since the signals were cut over, and the scene definitely felt different. But the buildings beside the road still give the spot some photographic value, along with the puddle to make the shot even better.' height='150' width='200' />
After spending almost a whole day trying to track 5743's moves in Windsor the day before and trying to figure the reason why they were being unpredictable, I decided at the end of the day that the chances of the famous SD40-2 leading an eastbound would be slim to none, especially in shootable lighting. Still, I decided to wake up at 5:30 am to turn on my scanner for some hope. Only 30 minutes after, and being half sleep, I heard the crew of 134/2-H89 call themselves CP 5743 East. Safe to say I was immediately was no longer half-asleep...
The chase began with me running out of my house at 6 am in the morning, and chased him to my first spot; here at the Tilbury curve. Something you could literally dream about in a railfans mind; waiting out in the country with the early morning birds chirping, hearing a horn in the distance, with a SD40 rounding the curve. The weather couldn't of been more perfect today, and I do not think I could ever have this experience with a SD40 ever again...' height='150' width='200' />
Sitting in English class, I got told that a 234 was around the border with a "Fakebonnet", was leading it. Knowing me, I couldn't focus the rest of my class as I had to give updates to many people and making up plans to see it. Making it out right after school, 234 sits across the border waiting on CP 131, and then waiting for almost a whole hour. In this photo, 234 backs into Windsor yard to tie down. The engine would get picked up by a CP 131 the next day. ' height='150' width='200' />
