Here is 6167 at the furthest stop of the Toronto Union to South Parry (and return) excursion of 10 June 1962.

Details more evident at full size include 2 boys climbing the cab steps, and a crewman in overalls on the platform.

CN 6167 was built by Montreal Locomotive Works in March 1940, working in freight and passenger train service with CN until 1959.
Its most dramatic day was 6 July 1943 when it was seriously damaged in a tragic fatal collision.
If not for the wartime conditions, 6167 would likely have been scrapped rather than repaired.

Reactivated for excursions in 1960, its last run was September 28, 1964. CN 6167 was donated to Guelph in 1967.

O & NY was majority-owned and operated by the New York Central Railroad from 1905 through 1957.
Construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1957 required the removal of the Cornwall railway bridges, severing the connection with New York state.
The line was not viable after that.

The data for my negative/positive places this scene of ALCo RS-3 NYC 8262 in Ottawa on 23 September 1952.
Its train consists of a 1912 Russell steam crane with tender, 2 gondolas and caboose.
Crane NYC X126 was 40 years old at the time. Its 10 ton capacity was not for heavy lifting.

Perhaps the location can be identified more precisely; the configuration and quantity of signals suggests a diamond crossing or significant junction.

Gord Taylor caught 2nd unit CP 9001 crossing Oxford Street East just outside the north end of the GMDD plant.
It appears to me that the engine ahead is a GMDD plant switcher, moving CP 9001 around the plant pre-delivery.
CP 9000 and 9001 were added to the CP roster 3 weeks after this picture.

This batch of 25 SD40-2F could have lead to more orders, if they had been as satisfactory as CP's SD40-2 fleet.
However there were serious initial defects, especially with the EMD 645 diesel engines, so that all SD40-2F's had to be returned and reworked after delivery.
The cowl body configuration also tended to be unpopular with operating crews.

It survived through the end of steam on CN, scrapped in 1961.

Its first car appears to be lettered "EXPRESS", beyond it are clerestory roof coaches.
Later colour images show it with grey boiler jacket and tuscan red tender side and below the running board.
Based on data for sister CP 2461, probably built by CLC Kingston in March or April 1945.

Quoting from R.L. Kennedy's website "Old Time Trains":
These "Twenty Four Hundreds" (actually, 2351-2472) were very capable locomotives built with one piece cast bed and multiple throttle. They were as different as day and night compared to earlier G3's 2300- 2350.
They were considered the best steam locomotive on the CPR, true dual service freight or passenger engines with 75 inch diameter drivers. They were the only class painted in either freight black and/or passenger tuscan red.

I believe that this is a westbound afternoon train from Windsor Station approaching Montreal West station.
One of the low-rise residential buildings cropped off at right had "Westhaven Village" on it, as if to advertise.
Westhaven Elmhurst Community Rec Associaton maps nearby, and very similar buildings can be found here in streetviews.
Signal M44 is gone, but "42" signals are on a signal bridge a bit further east. (CP Westmount Sub MP 4.2)

CPR Class G2 4-6-2 CP 2609 was photographed in Hull Quebec at Canada Packers (their CP on the water tank).
Visible part of the train is 40 foot steel boxcars, the ubiquitous car of the era that carried most non-perishable freight that fit inside.

Once the more industrial neighbour of Ottawa across the river, in 2002 Hull was amalgamated with other nearby Quebec communities, becoming the downtown of the city of Gatineau.
Sources indicate Canada Packers used to be on Rue Montcalm in Hull.

A yard at the edge of Red Deer on the CP line to South Edmonton has been mapped, may not be exact.
