The sun is just above the horizon in this winter view of GMD GP9 CN 4537 in Allandale Yard. Lake effect snow off Georgian Bay / Lake Huron is common in Barrie winters. The removal of Newmarket Sub tracks between Allandale and Longford (beyond Orillia) in 1996 greatly reduced rail traffic through this former CN hub; VIA's Canadian and ONR Northlander were re-routed to the Bala Sub.
