Some CR Blue & White, some BCR two tone green as well as silver and blue. Conrail 7774 far away from home working as yard engine in William Lake BC. BC Rail was short of power and scrounged up a few Conrail units. The story I heard was that the CR units had been leased to CP Rail and then rented out to BC Rail. The units were in rough shape mechanically and spent most of their time dead and awaiting repairs, needless to say BC rail did not keep them long. Sorry I can't pin down a date for this image, most likely mid-1986, the cheap slide film that day did not process with a date stamp.

A colorful CP Train #135 was on tap today. Into London with CP SD60 #6255 on point, they added BNSF ES44DC #7635 to the point to continue the trip west to Windsor. With the 'Lakeshore' water tower in the background BNSF #7635 high-balls through Emeryville, Ontario with a large string of AIMX (American Iron and Metal) scrap gons behind the power in the last few minutes of it's trip over the Windsor Subdivisio

Dark smoke erupts from MLW M630 CP 4566, which could be due to a sudden throttle advance or engine restart.<br> Apparently the diesel engines of the other units are running better/cleaner. In other images taken at same place same day, CP 4566 did not have visible smoke.<br><br>
The engines are at the east end of CP Quebec Street Yard just east of the namesake overpass, leading an eastbound train.<br>
The trailing unit has been modified by addition of numerous car body air filters; its appearance matches M636 CP 4716 in this timeframe.

Before hi-rail vehicles were common place at CN, Engineering field supervisors in most departments were assigned a car or truck to perform their duties. This 1976 Dodge D-100 Club Cab Custom was the daily driver for the Roadmaster (my Dad) in Jarvis, ON. The club cab was a Dodge innovation in 1973 and made it the work truck of choice for a number of years with all that 'extra space'. There were no creature comforts in these company assigned vehicles. Bench seat, manual windows, no A/C, no cruise control, and no cab insulation. A bare bones work truck. I added the roof top revolving light that I brough over from the Work Equipment shop at Danforth (Scarborough, ON) and remember the mounting bolts protruding right into the cabin because there was no headliner!

Photographed from Kay Drage park in Hamilton, CEFX 118 leads train 246, Sudbury to Buffalo, NY. For some reason 246 was stuck on the hill downgrade at Hamilton and I managed to catch up to it on the way to a family gathering, I certainly had no plans to get this, but when opportunity knocks..<br><br>With 246 pinging and ponging back and forth, 118 has been in captive service - this unit is apparently leased to NS now. 118 led 247 north today and should return on Wednesday morning if all goes to plan. Shoot it while you can! Since this is a SD90 formerly used in CP service (remember when they were red? <a href=http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=8015 target=_blank>(See this Aivo Meriments rp.ca photo of CEFX 119)</a>) these qualify to lead in Canada, as opposed to most foreign units.

In May 1970, the NMRA Niagara Division had their convention in Chatham Ontario. Some attendees took the opportunity to photograph an eastbound CP freight from the vantage point of one of the signals on the line - a railfan practice that some often did back in the day, but that would be very much frowned upon in present times.

Foreign-road boxcars mixed in the CP train include those for Illinois Central (both in modern orange, and older "Mainline of Mid-America" liveries) and the Evergreen Freight Car Corporation.

Over the weekend in late May of 1975, made a visit to the Chessie facilities in St. Thomas, as it was a nice warm day; and grabbed this image while there. C&O 5734, a GP7, was built in the early 50s, and it was cozied up to a GP30 #3018 of 1962 vintage. Always liked the style of the GP30s..........
