Rebuilt first generation units power a westbound St. Lawrence & Hudson Railway Company Limited freight at what we referred to as the 'bee bridge' ,Nichols Road, near Newtonville (complete with the photographer's shadow). In fresh paint is STLH GP9u #8245 (ex CP Rail 8828) assisted by rebuilt  MLW RS-18u's 1841-1850-18xx (ex CP Rail 8750-8738-87xx) at the approach to Lovekin on the Belleville subdivision. What's interesting: The St. Lawrence & Hudson Railway Company wholly owned by Canadian Pacific Limited (CPL) acquired all of its operating division's CP Rail Eastern and Atlantic Divisions (plus D & H and other) assets on Nov 12 1995. The intention being to sell off the assets, at least that is what happened to the Atlantic Division, and certainly the Ottawa Valley rail lines were divested (the latter took a while...consider that we almost had - pick a player: CSX, NS, G & W or Rail America or ? ). Then what remained of STLH was sold  back to a new company the Canadian Pacific Railway Limited (CPRL) on Jan. 1, 2001. (at least this is what I have been able to dig up so far...be interested in hearing more....). Also, the CN 'bee bridge' was 20 feet south of the STLH bridge. CN destroyed their bridge a couple of years (does someone know the date?) after this Kodachrome. Autumn 1997 Kodachrome by S.Danko.
