Originally from Dundas, Ont, always had an interest in trains. Worked briefly with the TH&B Rly in Hamilton and then went west to BC Rail 1973 to 2008 working mostly in Williams Lake BC as Locomotive Engineer. Now retired in Nova Scotia.

C&O 3029-3034-3031 A trio of GP-30's blasting along west into the sunset, just about to bang over the diamond of the CN Dunnville sub at Canfield Junction. The time I have in my notes, this train went by at 20:00. During the visit to Canfield and E&O we saw a total of 14 trains including CN,C&O,PC,N&W and TH&B. This Kodak Instamatic slide has lasted well after all these years.

A drab winter morning at Exeter on BC Rail Lillooet sub. We were making a pickup at Exeter and would continue south to Potter siding and change off with another crew "meet & greet" and run back north to Williams Lake BC. It was a dull snowy morning, image taken at 10:37.

A dismal winter afternoon, even though this a color image might as well been black and white film. Train symbol MC-4 with a trio of F units and a U boat all elephant style running east on the double track CASO is about to bang over the diamond of the single track TH&B Dunnville sub. E&O tower was located at mile 30.5 on the Penn Central Canada Division CASO. A "Kodak Instamatic Moment" from long ago.

BCOL 722, fresh from Squamish Shops after a overhaul / rebuild and new paint. I stopped at Stone Creek, mile 444.3 on the BC Rail Prince George sub for a photo or two. The train was the VO symbol, running Extra North to Prince George.

Running long hood forward from Exeter to Williams Lake, we took the siding at Onward for a meet. Had some time for photos and the 3902 with lights blazing, head lights, ditch lights and corner lights. There was no shortage of numbers denoting this unit as 3902. I was not able to mark this location on the map, Onward siding is a few miles south of Williams Lake, BC on the BC Rail Lillooet subdivision.

Train 570 romping along late afternoon with stormy weather on the way. This was taken at mile 347 on the BC Rail Prince George subdivision. I could not get the mapping application to work for the lat/lon coordinates.

Oddly, I had the 4624 leading 13 years prior to the day that James Knott captured 4624 on the way to the scrap yard in Welland. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=45076 We were switching the lumber mill at Dunkley, BC and a nasty snow squall blew through the area. I had a few minutes for photos and then back into the nice dry warm cab. At least 4624 had a nice sunny day for it's last trip even though it was the end of the line for that loco. Wonder who got the number boards and class lights ???

A very dry spring day, not much colour except for the trio of BC Rail units leading train 571. We had been out chasing couple of trains and this was the last spot for photos that day.

Train 570 thundering along with BCOL 4642, CN 5647 & 2652, BCOL 3901 at Tatton Station Road. I had been enjoying my first few months of retirement when good friend and railfan buddy came up from Vancouver for a visit. He dragged me along chasing couple of trains that day. I had been by this particular spot countless times in the cab of a locomotive but had never been here at ground level let alone taking pictures. Ah well, it was a fun few hours chasing two trains and spending time with a friend.

Early evening grab shot, a Kodak Instamatic Moment of N&W train #91 flying along westward into the sunset after having clattered over the diamond of the CN Dunnville sub. Notes from the day indicate the train had 58 cars and went by at 19:40 on a beautiful summer evening.

Early evening, N&W train #91 is flying along about to clatter over the diamond of the CN Dunnville sub at Canfield Junction. On this particular day, Bruce Mercer and I spent numerous hours at Canfield Jct and E&O tower, total trains seen that day was 14 from 5 different railways, CN, C&O, PC, N&W and TH&B.

A sunny afternoon and N&W train #91 is flying westward into the sunset with three F units throttled up after banging over the diamond of the CN Dunnville sub. Canfield Junction was a great spot for raifans with the double track CASO bisected by the CN Dunnville sub and the parallel CN Cayuga sub. Trains of the NYC/PC, CN, C&O and the N&W passed through here on a regular basis, hard to believe that it is all gone now.

A trio of GP35's, C&O 3523,3528 & 3537 on a eastbound freight have just clattered over the diamond at Canfield Junction on the now long gone CASO sub. The C&O had running rights on this track from St.Thomas. I was about half way between the diamond and Junction Road which crosses the double track mainline. If I recall Junction Road crossing was protected with the old style "wig wag" light and of course it never occurred to me to take a picture of the wig wag arm and light. On this day, Bruce Mercer and I spent time at Canfield as well as E&O Tower further east of Canfield. 9 trains were seen this day, from 4 different railways, including TH&B at E&O.

Train #52 with PC 4022 & 4046 (E7 & E8) is banging across the diamond of the CN Dunnville sub at Canfield Jct. Perhaps this passenger train had 4 or 5 cars and a very lite load of passenger on board for the quick trip through the countryside on the long gone CASO sub. Oh for the want of a better camera that day.

Penn Central westbound freight symbol LS3 with three GE "U boats" PC 2850, PC 2545 & PC 2868 on the double track CASO rapidly approaching the diamond at Canfield Junction. The diamond crosses the single track CN Dunnville sub. The track on the right of this image is the CN Cayuga sub and behind me is the diamond of the CN Cayuga and Dunnville subs. Canfield was an interesting place, lots of trains to be seen and quite often four different railways. The tracks are all gone, with only my Kodak Instamatic memories left.

On the CASO sub, hotshot train NY-4 with a GE U25B NYC 2527 leading is about to bang over the diamond at E&O tower. Trailing in the consist were PC 3258 and 3026. Note the "one piece" front windshield on 2527. It is hard to comprehend that this great double track mainline as well as the TH&B Dunnville sub are all ancient history now.
