Stranded. The Montreal, Maine & Atlantic's short Stanbridge Subdivision is not in use, as Transport Canada is "restricting movements on the subdivision until the track has been assessed by a professional engineer and the conditions under which a safe movement may occur have been provided". The branch line is in very bad shape, with 100 lb rail, rotting ties, etc. This train, with MMA 8583 and 8 cars is therefore stranded both because of this decision and because their are 2 derailed cars about half a mile north of where this train is stranded (at MP 6.15 of the sub). Apparently this train has been there a couple of months! There are also three grain cars stranded near the end of the line in Bedford. As I was taking pictures, a farmer ploughing his field came up to ask me what all the fuss was about. He can't understand why so many people have been coming by to take photos. Just as I got here, a young couple with a 5 year old child came to take pictures of their son propped up on the engine!
