One would hardly think this lush green scene is deep in busy Downtown Brampton, but it is! CCGX 1000 rolls south with the biweekly Orangeville Brampton Railway local, heading from Orangeville to Streetsville to interchange with CP, while switching out the few Brampton customers along the way. Here we see the short train heading south past the former CPR Brampton Station grounds, crossing Nelson St. just north of bustling downtown Queen Street behind us.

We're looking north, standing where the old station and platforms used to be, along with a former passing track and long-demolished express/freight shed for loading cargo on a siding across from the station. The CPR's Brampton Station was built 1902, closed 1969 (railways were discontinuing passenger service on many of their lines during this period due to the private automobile gaining popularity, thus rendering many stations redundant), saved from demolition with lots of effort by the city and its citizens, moved in 1981 to a nursery, later condemned, designated a heritage building, dismantiled and stored on a farmers' property until being rebuilt a few years ago as part of a community centre in the Mount Pleasant Village area. The nearby CNR Brampton Station continues to serve passenger trains of both VIA & GO.
