I suppose, if you are familiar with the AC Tour Train, after viewing this photo, you might ask yourself "What went wrong"?? In this modern age of travel, why has ridership fallen off so dramatically on the Tour Train? Is it the fare? Or perhaps the cost of travel in this province? Competition from so many American tourist lines? Whatever the reason, there aren't many passenger trains of this length any more. My notes state 27 cars behind AC 161, 172, 156 and 164 on this rather humdrum fall day. The depot is on the left, w-a-y back there.

  1. Yep, definitely pales in comparison. Today the maximum train that can be run at peak season is 16 cars including dining car, because that’s all the equipment they even have available, plus two other coaches assigned to the Hearst train.

    It does sell out in the fall still, but during the mid-summer its’ more like 8-10 cars normal.
