The first unit of the 8000 series, Baldwin-built DRS 4-4-1000 #8000, was the first diesel road unit on CP. First used on CP's Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway on Vancouver island in 1948. She was retired in 1975 and now resides at the West Coast Heritage Railway Park in Squamish, BC.
