Another of those images one could consider 'historic' is this grab shot of a few of the 14 converted baggage cars that made of the "Discovery Train" which toured Canada in the late 1970s promoting our country. Previously, in the early '70s, ironically enough they were utilized as display cars on the American Freedom train. After the cross-country tours this well-received train set suffered the ignominious fate of rusting away on a couple of sidings near the central Ottawa VIA station, until being 'rescued' by the Union Pacific, which acquired them for work train service. The end of the line came in 1995, when the cars ended up being scrapped in Las Vegas, Nevada.
