Faces of change sit in the sanding tracks at the old C&O engine service facility in Chatham, Ontario back in 1995.  The 7897 was in town as it had come over on an empty grain extra that was delivered to W.G. Thompson in Blenheim.  The local crew brought the unit back to Chatham for 'safe keeping' I guess.  In 1995 it was nice to shoot the big CSX GE's as they were still 'the new thing' at the time.  Today I could care less about seeing another GE, and would pay good money to shoot a nice set of GP's on a road train.......

  1. It’s interesting to note that despite the isolation of CSX post April 1996 these WG Thompson grain extras occurred into 2005 and often warranted a pair of AC4400′s or SD40-2′s brought over from Detroit – so the ‘big power’ continued to make an appearance until the last minute..
