The Ocean enters the Newcastle Sub at Pacific Junction on the CN. The Newcastle Sub, like the rest of the former Intercolonial route to Riviere-du-Loup, was sold to shortlines, but recently repurchased by CN. However the south end of the Newcastle Sub is now up for abandonment, and if that happens the Ocean will have to be rerouted on the current through freight route via Edmundston, The future of the Ocean seems to be very much in doubt.
