CN 5272 has just finished shoving its train from Carvel to Spruce Grove, a distance of 12 miles. The crew will leave the cars on the south track, run 10 miles east as a light engine to lift some cars from an industry track, then return to lift the rest of the train. Complecated and confusing move to say the least! Needless to say the crew did not sound too pleased!

  1. Until two years ago, I lived in Stony Plain, just west of the Grove, and I saw a lot of this turn. I used to wonder if it was a punishment detail for recalcitrant crews! They sure got stuck making convoluted moves!
