VIA 1 "The Canadian" cruises through Downsview in the very early stages of its trip to Vancouver. In less than three miles, it will reverse at Snider onto the York Sub, and head down to Doncaster to go up the Bala Sub towards Vancouver. While VIA 2 uses the Bala Sub the entire way to into Toronto, VIA 1 does not have that option as reversing a 20 car consist at TMC would be a living nightmare, and is simply not worth it.
