Thanks to some excellent information from a few friends, I was able to make it out to Etobicoke to witness the mainline test run of the Union Pearson Express units 1001, and 1002. They were given a permit to occupy tracks 3 and 4 on the Oakville Subdivision between Canpa and Gardiner. During the few hours of testing, they ran the train back and forth between these two points several times. I believe they tested the doors and made a breif stop at Mimico as well.

  1. How are these things powered – regular diesel fuel ? It almost looks like they have a 3rd rail attachments – in other photos it was hard to see a fuel tank

  2. Powered by two 740 hp Cummins Diesel engines tier 4 … Hydraulic drive on the B truck only … On each unit “Third rail shoe” is actually a proximity sensor for the End of Line stopping device for Pearson
