Back on May 22, Rob Smith and myself were standing on the station platform at Brantford shooting a late running SOR 597 with CEFX 2019, CEFX 2015 and RLK 4057. The day before we had found out that the SOR would be receiving a pair of SD40-2's to replace the GP20D's. Rob referred to his shot as "The Beginning of the end" of the GP20D's. My picture depicts "the end" of the GP20D's on the SOR. On my way to Garnet to photograph the new SD40-2's I stopped by Hagersville with a hunch I would find some kind of power there. CEFX 2015, RLK 3873 and CEFX 2006 were tied up in the yard at Hagersville. They were waiting for a crew to come on duty to run them to Hamilton before being turned over to CN for return to CEFX. So the end of the GP20D's has come...time to shoot some SD40-2's!

  1. As much as I “disliked” those units, still kind of sad to see them go. They definitely were unique. But the sd40′s sure are a welcome change!

  2. As of Sunday morning, 2015 was still in the same location, 2006 was gone, 2301 and 3873 were nose to nose on the track behind this. Seems the return power move will be a while yet ;)
