This photo was taken by my friend Neil Smitherman.  Here we have the Blue Water Chapter of the NRHS running an excursion on the C&O Canadian Division back in 1984.  I was 16 at the time and remember watching this train go through Wheatley, Ontario as it ran from Detroit to St. Thomas, Ontario and return.  Wish I had had a camera back then, but it would be another couple years before I started to take photos of what I knew was going to be the end of the C&O as I had known it in Canada.

  1. Hey Geoff – is this train diverting off the C&O/NYC main here to… ?

  2. It’s taking the connector from the NYC/PC/Conrail CASO main, which we are looking down, to the C&O #1 Subdivision, which is crossing the CASO in the foreground.
