The Thousand Islands Railway was a CN subsidiary that ran from Gananoque Junction on CN's Kingston sub to Gananoque's waterfront, a run of about 5 miles. The line was dismantled in 1997, but TIR 500 is preserved in town. It is a 40-ton diesel which was built using trucks and motors from Oshawa Railway Electric 42, built in 1914.
