More Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes. A few new signals have sprouted at James St North - and crews are still busy building the parking garage/station and platform. Apparently they want to squeeze some GO service in here in a months time... after all all you need is a platform and a staircase.. right?? I say no way it'll make it in time - but then again, stranger things have happened with GO expansion..
The signal at far left - protects the main track - wouldn't Rule 27 apply requiring a 564 (Authority to pass - most restrictive signal would be red!). Normally you'd expect the signal to be turned unless commissioning was imminent..

  1. Not soon enough. I’ll be on the Stuart street bridge today taking pics after bussing it in from Aldershot (train from Toronto).

  2. I could see GO having a temporary pedestrian level crossing, like the ones at Bradford. The project does look very rushed as you mentioned though. From rumours I’ve heard, the Niagara GO excursion trains will simply glide past the station when it’s done, which baffles me. It would be interesting if Via Rail used it as a mini-hub for Niagara and London-Windsor trains, but that’s just fantasy.

  3. Yes Daniel, that is pure fantasy. VIA will not use it as a hub, period. That’s what Aldershot is.

They won’t ever go back. I have my doubts VIA will use the station either. They should..

Niagara trains will bypass Hamilton for now – how many sides do you want to disembark from? Each side has to be prepared and ready with a platform – do you want to create two platforms or one on time for June?

  4. So this control point is now in service – CN “Stuart” is the name, went in service 0300 on Saturday May 30th.
