We're just to the east of Bayview, at a location now known as "Snake"; I guess in reference to the bridge in the background that leads to the Beth Jacob cemetery there. I am comfortably settled into a quiet spot along the hillside where I used to go when I wanted to say "the hell with the world". That is partly what railfanning is all about, isn't it? I remembered taking this late afternoon picture when, the other day, I was viewing a video shot by the late Lloyd Hodges of down Niagara-area; someone I did not know at the time, when I saw that he filmed this at Burlington West, I thought "hey, I saw this train as well". And sure enough, that afternoon here I was some 3 miles west down the line. On a clear day one could see...............but on this slightly hazy afternnon in the far background best I can make out is Waterdown Rd bridge and the former Aldershot Cold Storage building, a white dot, on the right. Power on this train is CN 9408, 9668, 9308 and 9305, with 129 cars in tow. All units off the roster now......the 9668 came to CN in from GO Transit in a group of 10, it was the former GO 700, nee 9808.

  1. I wonder if this is a Sarnia train? Though they look way too clean, the 9300′s were being used as tunnel motors under the St Clair River at the time. They tended to resemble SP units more than CN as I recall.

    Beauty as usual, Arnold!
