OSR 6508 sits in the shop at Salford awaiting some finishing touches to its new corporate image paint scheme. Originally the final product of 6508 was intended to be kept a secret until reveal but yesterday a photo leaked onto Facebook and went viral. This morning a photo of the unit was uploaded to the official OSR Facebook page so the cat is out of the bag which is why I have posted this shot. Needless to say, the Ontario Southland has done an exceptional job making 6508 look great and I cannot wait to see it leading trains in the near future.

  1. Looks great. I’m still quite happy that they’re using F units in 2015.

  2. I think it’s great that OSR is restoring and continuing to use these old units. We are living in a throw-away society where old things just don’t seem to matter anymore. I’m continuing to use a restored 1949 John Deere tractor on my farm, which is a similar idea. There are benefits- it’s easier on the environment when we don’t throw things away and re-use them instead.

  3. That thing is absolutely stunning!

  4. Awesome! :D The paint is better than I thought it would be! It is undoubtedly THE greatest paint scheme I have ever seen on an F-unit. Great catch, Joe.

  5. Wow! Over 1600 views for this photo Joseph. We’ve all seen something good in this picture. Keep them F units rolling. :-)
