R.I.P. Lachine Spur - 1847-2015. What is now known as the CN Lachine Spur was part of the track built by the Montreal and Lachine Railroad (one of Canada's first railways) which built from Bonaventure Station to the wharf in Lachine (so that travellers could avoid riding the Lachine Rapids). Yesterday the last train passed on this line (on its way to Canadian Allied Diesel in Lachine) and today crew's started removing the rails and plates. The reason the spur is being removed is upcoming highway construction. CAD will only be served by CP, who is finishing redoing their spur from the Adirondack sub. This is sad for me on a personal level, as the first train I ever chased was on this line in 2005.

  1. Anyone shoot the last train?

  2. Goodbye to a line I always hoped to shoot.
