My brother and I biked down to Ayr from our home in NW Waterloo to watch the CPR. We spend virtually the entire day trackside and this is the second of two trains that we saw. The sun cooperated for me however. It is westbound at Cedar Creek Road. I would rather have a MLW unit leading but a full-faced-narrow-striped SD-40 has its charms. We would continue our circuit into Galt where we would encounter some foul weather. It would be well after sunset by the time we would arrive home.

    It kind of looks like an SD40 from this angle, but it’s a GP35.

    I did not know that CP had GP-35′s. This is my only picture of one, I believe. I guess that it is not as rare as their GP-30′s though.

    CP had 24 GP35′s on the roster at one point, for the most part all have been retired. 2 remain on the roster as Control Cab “Daughter” slugs.
