The last section of Lake Erie & Northern track in Brantford is presently being removed by a contractor. They started removing the track at the S.C. Johnson (west) end, and have made it as far as the old LE&N yard area. It will be interesting to see how far east they go. In happier times, almost six years ago to the day, CN 580 is shown returning from S.C. Johnson with four empties. The train is crossing Leonard Street, and is paralleling Holme Street. Sections of the railway right of way are sought after by developers, and the former Harding Carpet factory (and a former railway customer) will likely be torn down soon to make way for more houses that will front Holme Street. In a few years you probably won't even be able to tell that railway tracks came through this area of Brantford.

  1. So sad! Glad I got a few shots. I’ll miss seeing them running along the River. My Gus’s would be they will lift as far as the run around track at the TH&B station as it ocasionally sees use but who knows.

  2. Ahh, the consolation prize. If you didn’t get to Brantford on time for downtown running, you certainly got there on time to shoot them down at the wax plant. I managed to shoot ‘em down there twice.. don’t think my shots are that good though :)

  3. I see there is a new yellow bumper installed on the TH&B main east of the Clarence Street South railway crossing so I think that answers the question Marcus! :)
