There's a certain allure to quiet, easily accessible locations that provide us photographers opportunities for study of our craft, and Hopkins St is one of these places. Shootable from north and south sides, from sunrise to sunsets.. this location has it all, and even provides an opportunity for night photography that I could not resist.

I made the trip to Ottawa and Back on the 10th to visit with a friend, having been up since 0445 I was quite tired, 9 PM by the time I arrived at Hopkins St on my westward journey. I got the tripod out and see what I could do , and this was my best result. One friend of mine who saw this shot commented that he grew out of this phase of photography - truth is I never did much night photography until fairly recently, so I guess I haven't grown out of it yet!. I enjoyed taking this photo very much.
But why have there been so many photos from this location lately? This overpass is closing, permanently, and being demolished scheduled to be closed this spring as soon as the road seen in the distance by the shoo-fly is completed. Get out there while you can.. there aren't many places like this.
