Another eastbound hot and cold train - High priority stuff up front and junk tacked on. The number boards on the 5838 don't appear to be original, or CP font for that matter.
In the short Mitford sidings are some old gondolas, most likely used for MOW and an old crane (And before anyone asks, I did not stop to photograph the crane. I was young and naive.).
I Googled Mitford a while back and learned that there were a couple of small coal mines here at one time.They extracted coal for the RR. I believe the mines would have been on the hill to the left and hehind the locomotives. Not much remains, apparently.

  1. In browsing the CP diesel roster on mountainrailway.com it appears that many of the 5800 series units from 5837 on had this different number board font.
