Back when there were trains to see I used this Portage Rd bridge vantage point rather often. I cannot quite make out whether that white marker to the right of the last unit is the MILE 3 marker for the Grimsby sub., but that would be about right. All those big tin cans in the background are part of the Chateau-Gai Wine empire that used to be in business there. I don't know what happened with them, but one day I went by...everything was gone and some outfit was storing lumber on the property. So that, along with all the interesting power on this westbound train, is now history. Two MLW sandwiched by GMD. SD40, a C424, an M-636 and GP9 on the rear. The GP soldiers on as CN 7032:2 according to CTG. The others all off the roster. Power consist is CN 5081, 3216, 2339 and 4533. Barely visible in the background is the corner of Whirlpool and Stanley Av.

  1. Great shot! True quite a different story here now, with the yard abandoned along with most rail served industries in the area. Even the lumber yard is gone now along with the second track.
