Busy times on the High Iron as VIA 85 passes by two GEXR trains working Kitchener yard. A two way meet may be common, but three way? Took me a 'few years' to have everything come together.. my last three way meet was in 2003 between CN 271 in the hole at Kitchener, CN 434 on the main, and GEXR 584 coming to work the yard, but it did not look this good :)
Operationally, for those interested, GEXR 518 at left has just returned from South Junction, set off their train in the yard, helped 518 lift the cars, switched ends and ran to the west end of the yard, to wait for X516. Extra 516 had come from Stratford earlier that morning light power, lifting cars from Kitchener yard, plus the cars 518 brought from CP to bring about 40 cars to Stratford. Just as 516 cleared the yard, 518 would begin their work to make a second run to South Junction for autoracks. Weekends at Kitchener are always worth a visit.

  1. Nice shot. Very colourful

  2. Nicely lined up and a friendly wave to boot!

  3. Awesome! I like how these colours compliment each other. Also like how you lined up the switch stands at left.

  4. Great shot! nice colours and it’s lined up perfectly.

  5. Thanks. A lucky break.

  6. Now, time to clone out that pesky white tower in the background!

  7. No kidding. Cloning is against the rules so I won’t break them :)

  8. Yes don’t do the Model Railroad Lance Mindheim photography of Photoshopping the backdrop. IT IS breaking the rules. Funny as I use such towers as backdrop dividers to hide the seem.
