Night time in BrantfordTonight I guess the crew decided to park the GP in a much more convenient location for me, as seen above. I didn't hesitate to take advantage of this. I don't ever recall ever seeing the yard power tied down here, but CN seems to be shaking things up (at least from my perspective) a little in the area. For example taking a set of GP's out of London, and I saw a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIzn21i_3TY) where 4770 on 580 went all the way to Woodstock earlier in the week. Maybe they're using this one more so the don't bother parking it in the usual spot? Don't mistake this for complaining though!!Also tonight, you can see 435's SBU over to the left. On the way over I heard on the scanner that the lead unit (2293, I think) was having a lot of brake issues. I understand that the engineer couldn't control the brakes properly from this unit. He ended up isolating the lead unit completely, meaning he was controlling the train from the second cab, while the conductor acted as the eyes in the lead cab. The original plan was to use this set up to Paris where they'd leave the lead unit and continue on their mary way to London. However the plan changed to the crew tying down the entire train at Paris and calling it a day. Bet that'll screw up some plans for tomorrow!!

  1. New paint scheme on a GP38-2. Finally getting round to painting them I see. Nice catch!

  2. Before the foamers freek out, it was CN 2292 with brake problems that caused 435 problems.

  3. Thanks, Stewie, 3/4 digits isn’t bad though! And BradKetchen, although it looks shiny, if you look closely a big chunk of the CN noddle is missing in the top left! I’d love to see some repainting going of too, but unfortunately CN doesn’t like zebras anymore!

  4. 435 would limp to Paris and outlaw there. This morning 585′s crew came down and took the train to London.

As for where 4770 is sitting…definitely an odd spot. The crew left it tied onto the cars for SOR to grab last night which made SOR have to return to Garnet light power…I’m sure they weren’t thrilled last night. First having to back into Paris at Paris West with their train because 435 was blocking the East end and then not being able to get their cars because of 4770.

Different crews on weekends…probably didn’t realize that leaving the unit there would be an issue! Worked out for you though.
