Prior to this photo, I had made many attempts at photographing this train in it's daily activities...either switching at Imperial Oil facility, or trying to capture it as it trundles up the line to the Garnet yard. However, either poor lighting, extreme weather conditions, or just not enough time all proved to be the barriers that prevented me from getting a good shot.

It was my first attempt when on a cold and blustery day after Easter, I chased the train as it departed Esso, and went up a few concessions where I stood at the railway crossing and waited...and waited...and still waited. At this pint, standing at the crossing near open fields and feeling the windchill of that afternoon, I came up with a nickname for the Southern Ontario Railway - just like they used to do in the golden days. I christened it "Slow but Operational" on this 1.75 mile stretch to the Garnet yard.

All things considered, my timing was perfect this day as I finally saw SOR 3404 in the lead with 3403 behind it pulling a string of tanker cars from the Imperial Oil facility to the Garnet yard.
