This was a nice treat on a nice day because this combination was very uncommon. The BBD leader and its family didn't last much over twenty years, (1980-1 to 2001-2)and it seemed they were just getting accepted by the railfan community and they were being retired. They were nowhere near as popular as the FP9 cab unit, the example in this photo being trailing unit 6518 on this mid-day train.
