To get this photograph I was standing behind the remains of the CP roundhouse rear walls. Realizing that in the steam era, some of the CPR's largest locomotives visited Field. it was my intent was to photograph the turntable while it was still there. As far as I know not many CPR turntables were of this design. I only saw one other & that was in Cranbrook BC. Except for the CPR employee running across the main line there seemed to be no activity taking place. In the background the TCH is two lane, & the river is low. Looking down at the roundhouse floor you can see the indents for the columns, & where a fire wall once stood. Also if I am correct the original roundhouse floor consisted of cinders. The concrete was probably added in the 1940's.
