A look near the old CN Hamilton Station /Yard area, pre-GO Transit: CN #421 departs Stuart Street Yard heading east (or south, if you prefer) on the Oakville Sub. Relatively new ES44DC 2278 is on point, having just passed under MacNab Street overpass. We're standing just under the James Street overpass (shadow in foreground) where some bits of the crumbling platforms of CN's previous Hamilton Station remain, but without any of the station tracks that would have been visible in the left of the photo during the station's heyday.

But fast forward a few years to today, Metrolinx's West Harbour GO Station, platforms and overhead walkways now fill the left of the photo, and the old rusty Bay Street bridge in the background has since been demolished and reconstructed. The number of freights in the area seems down, but the extra GO action is probably as exciting as CN GEVO leaders anyway.

  1. I thought this was the Grimsby sub…and that the Oakville Sub. started at Bayview…makes sense though that Oakville sub would start at the James Street station. Good shot. Definately a lot has changed in this area.
