I had not even heard of the "Rocky Mountaineer" when I took this photo. Imagine my surprise when this came around the corner. This is probably the first year of operation. (Does that mean that the "Super Continental" is no longer and that the "Canadian" is running through Edmonton in mid 1990?).
As you can see, the idea of proceeding further up the canyon would have been foolhardy - remember I only had topographic maps to scout this route - no Google satellite views.
