The southbound "Northlander" is seen pulling into Gravenhurst station after a near miss with a car at the crossing in the background. CAT powered "F" unit #2001 is in charge of today train. Sadly these days not only are the "F" units history but the "Northlander" as well, and the station here is currently only used as a bus depot.

  1. Now that would be different to have a F unit drive up with a Cat purring inside instead of a GMD 2 cycle. A bus station is not the best news either. I am happy to report that my better half attended a meeting recently and one of the ladies attending came to Edmonton and returned to Toronto on the train. She really enjoyed the trip here and looked forward to the same going home. :-)

  2. Those fancy lights were gone by 2003 when I started photographing ONR at Gravenhurst…
