LDS 0179 switches tank cars in the CF Industries (former Terra Chemical) yard north of Sombra. This facility used to be switched by both CSX and CN but today freight is handled exclusively by CN, although CSX did bring in a handful of steel loads on flatbeds last year. Taken on private property with permission.

  1. Nice find – how often is this out and working?

I assume they don’t go much beyond the fence at the CSX side?

  2. I’ve seen them switching that yard a couple of times from the gravel road that passes by.
Judging by satellite images the tracks on the CSX side are quite overgrown so they must not see much use if any at all, although I do wonder where CSX brought those steel loads to last year – they were supposedly for this plant.
