Not your average 'B' unit. This motorized booster is one of only 4 built by MLW. B100 & B101 were built in 1951. Booster unit control locos converted to mother these units were CP 7033,7038 and 7039. Then boosters B102 and B103 (shown) were built in 1957 and three more MLW S-2 switchers were converted for use with these: 7081, 7082 and 7083. In 1966 two more switchers were done...7030 and 7040. All units retired now, (B101 converted to a scale test car) the B103 being the last to die, back in 1984. Unfortunately I did not record the number of the switcher(s) shown. I keep wondering if that puddle in the foreground is oil. Probably not, but many yards were extremely contaminated back then.

    Wow! What a great picture. A real piece of Canadian Pacific history. I believe these slugs were the first in Canada.
