A C&O westbound at Canfield with GP7 5755 and GP9's 5906-6033 is headed to St. Thomas on the double track NYC Canada Division mainline. This train originated at either NYC Montrose Yard in Niagara Falls, Ont, or at the Erie RR yard in East Buffalo. Note the early style open auto racks a few cars back, which means there is a block of cars to be remarshalled at Talbot Yard, St. Thomas to go back to Michigan via the Sarnia/Port Huron ferry. Doug Page was standing immediately west, and south, of Junction Road to capture the image and a few seconds later, the train would rattle across the diamond of the CN Dunnville Subdivision. By this point in time, NYC has decided the eastward and westward passing tracks are no longer required at Canfield.

  1. I’m enjoying these Canfield pictures.

  2. Doug was probably at the cottage at Lake Erie as it was not far from Canfield.
