This is interesting. Either the growth in Niagara (and BC) grapes and/or trucking widdled away this traffic. What do you think?

Since you asked…I think instead of seeing shipments like this, you see a few Containers of wine juice instead. Which is why there are any number of independent stores where one can make their own wine – all the base products are imported juice. Thirty years ago there were few, if any, Ontario crops of Merlot, Sauvignon or Riesling grape. The loss of the tender fruit markets ( peaches, cherries, plums etc) have made land available for vineyards. There is still a market for people who actually make wine in their basement, it’s just not as prevalent. And check any bottle on the shelf at ” that ” store and if it doesn’t say VQA, chances are it’s blended with imported juice(s).

I can remember when CN stopped accepting reefers out her because they were to labour-intensive…or some such nonsense. Sounds like H.H.’s way of thinking. Do you ever see any down your way any more?
