I heard there was a train on the way. I was driving along Campbellville Rd when I heard this guy on the scanner, announcing he was clear of Guelph Jct westbound and the only opportunity was at the clearing opposite the entrance to Mountsberg Conservation Area. But I had no time, as he was really moving, no chance to shoot across the field, resulting in this grab shot at the Milburough Line crossing. I must say I was very surprised. Holy Cow!! Five GP9s!!! CP 8250, 8234, 8211, 8207 and 8215. The GP9u locos are no more on CP; all numbers in this batch retired in 2015.

  1. This didn’t happen too often but I saw a couple mainline trains with Geeps for power..

(ie: Trains that cross the border @ Windsor)

    How glorious they were.

  2. This is usually how I end up taking most of my photos…you just happen upon a train and get out of the car just quick enough to get in a shot or two!

  3. Back in the day Stefan, there were lots of mainline trains running on the CASO/MCRR crossing in and out of Niagara Falls with mixed combos of C424′s, RS18u’s and GP9u’s as power. I don’t think there were as many GP38-2′s around yet as they were still populating the branchlines out west.
