Reminiscences galore....is how I feel looking at simple images taken in simple laid-back times. A Fort Erie-based GP 4527 with van 79581 is seen on one of those pleasant sunny late mornings crossing over the Hwy 403 heading westward. I forget, but this must be a Sunday. Note the 403 traffic below. Simple times were also quiet times. And yet, we saw far more trains.
I accessed this spot by parking at the Royal Botanical Gardens, then walking over to Hamilton West, down the hill over to CP, along the tracks to the CP bridge just to the south, which I used for crossing over the 403 and then about 60 feet N to where I am standing now. Not much ran on the CP, and when it did, it ran s-l-o-w. Much safer than getting squished on the CN. Of course, none of these antics are legal any more; just another route of wandering a thing of the past.
