Twenty-one years ago this area looked about like it does today. Barren lands of spring; golf course is off to the left and quarry lands off to the right; giving this location an 'out in the sticks' appearance. This is actually almost into the city. I am standing on the Portage Rd overpass, looking at an eastbound (at this point)running train, a mile or so before the Stamford Sub split and a bit farther away than that to the former location of CN NF yard.
Nice consist, which is why I am out this morning; CN 2107, WC 6618 and GT 6417. The lead unit, a BBD HR616, part of a fleet of 20 acquired by CN in 1982, proved to be an annoyance at best, and the whole bunch were gone from CN by 1998. This particular unit went to NRE.

  1. Amazing photo! I never imagined that an HR616 and WC unit would have run together.
