This is great
Great shot Geoff. Some acid trains also went to the C&O at Chatham. Those trains were usually 54 cars versus the usual 36, if I recall. They ran them out of London either as a “Chatham Acid Turn” or through to Windsor. The latter took place if one or more of Power, caboose, or crews… were required in Windsor. If it was a turn, we’d sometimes pull into the siding at Eastend and cut the van off in the clear, wye the power & pick it up on the way back to London. Otherwise, we’d pull up the main & back into the year van on the lead & the acid into no 2 track for the C&O to pick up & grab the van. They were often waiting. Then we would wye power & van if turning, or head straight west if we were going through. Those trains went to Courtright if I recall. Sometimes we were able to run all the way to Quebec St. without meeting another train. I have worked one of those “acid turns” out of London and spent just 4 hrs on duty.
One other thing Geoff, I don’t know if this train would have had a van, I think 1990 was the year they came off, but I can’t recall exact date.
