GE ET44 locomotives CN 3099 and 3063 haul a container train eastward from downtown Vancouver, seen at location Still Creek mp 153.8 on the BNSF/CN New Westminster sub where CTC and double track begin. The train has emerged from 1.5 miles of tree-shadowed single track in a below-grade cut, with the Millenium Line Skytrain running alongside. This is the same route taken by the VIA Canadian, Amtrak Cascades, and Rocky Mountaineer.
Two hours earlier the same pair of engines were working long hood forward, switching intermodal cars either side of Burrard Inlet Junction under heavy overcast.
I saw plenty of CN intermodal activity heading to/from Vanterm (Vancouver downtown-east container port) in mid-2018, which wasn't seen in my visits of years past. The other significant Canadian west coast container ports with train and ship access are Roberts Bank and Prince Rupert BC.
