Immediately behind WP&YR GE locomotives 91 and 97 (GEX3341 had Alco 6-251B, repowered Cummins QSK45L) are coaches 316 Liard River, and 334 Thompson River. Now over the 873m White Pass Summit and into BC, the railway descends more gradually toward the level of Bernard Lake near Fraser BC. In between mountains, the terrain is heavily glaciated (gouged) with parallel lakes and areas of thin soil and bare bedrock.
