QGRY 6908 is an SD40-3, an Alstom rebuild of SD40 CN 5198. It emerged from rebuild as GCFX 6038, after that it became WC 6908. QGRY 6908 is carrying an SBU. It may qualify for the no-bell prize - unless it's tucked away somewhere out of sight.

  1. 6908 bell is under the frame in the conductor side

  2. FYI,the signal indicates “slow to clear”. Proceed slow speed through interlockings or turnouts. It does not specifically have to be on the north or south track of the Dundas Sub. Interesting that the sbu is connected to the locomotives? It does not need to be. The two units can do 50mph running light.

  3. Thank you for the signal meaning, you are the pro. I think that there are occasions when this signal shows red over yellow (it has the light for that) – some railfans think that indication is associated with also taking the crossover to the north track right after the junction switch. On this day VIA 72 came east on the north track 15 minutes later, so RLHH 2081 definitely took the south track this time.

  4. You are very welcome. I am sure RLHH took the south track because of the VIA train already been lined up the north track.
    A solid red over yellow is a restricting signal and if its flashing yellow on the bottom its called a slow to stop :-)

  5. Thank you for the bell location, I suppose that (like the horn) it is better for the crew when it’s not so close to the cab. There is some metal where the original bell bracket was. Note – in the data, I should have selected S.O.R. not Railink.

  7. Aaron, came up to Brantford. Stopped at the station, switched locomotives and headed for Garnet. Through Caledonia at 1350

  8. With QGRY 2500 assigned to the north end of the Esso Refinery and RLHH 3049 parked at Garnet Yard (maintenance), RLHH 3404 performed switching duties this day as lone power. These two returning stable mates from Hamilton were systematically (3 maneuvers) added to RLHH 597/595 behind RLHH 3404. Incidentally tonight’s train will include 35 coil steel cars.
